Jimmy Buffett launching ‘Coral Reefer’ medical marijuana brand
Jimmy Buffett might be launching a new brand of weed, called Coral Reefer, but don’t expect it to waste away in “marijuana-ville.”
The brand will be created with a focus on healing as part of a licensing deal with Suterra Wellness, a leading medical cannabis company.
“Our brands are about quality and improving people’s lives,” Buffett’s business partner and Coral Reefer, LLC CEO John Cohlan said in a press release.
The venture will develop and sell therapeutic cannabis products, “wellness lifestyle” products and merchandise, which are expected to roll out in the spring of 2019. Vaporizer pens, tinctures, oral sprays, topical creams, time released transdermal patches are all offered by Surterra and soon soft gels will be added to the list.
Coral Reefer products will first be available in Florida. Details for expanding to other states will be released early next year.
“Cannabis is good medicine and should be made available to all who need it,” Buffett said in a press release. “I feel that joining with Surterra, in the medical cannabis world, is the right place for Coral Reefer products to be.”
Buffett and Margaritaville Holdings, a global lifestyle branding company, are the primary owners of Coral Reefer, LLC which earns its namesake from his band.
